This is a shoot for all levels of shooters. Greenhorns to full-fledged Mountain Men and Women. Spectators encouraged and welcome! Each shoot begins by signing up the day of the shoot at 8:00 a.m. at the educational building, with the event starting at 9 a.m. Accompanied by a friendly ranger, you will take a Woodman's walk through the woods on our property. Along the way, you will find 15 various targets to shoot at, some easier than others. Such as knockdowns, spinners and even some moving targets. Each Target will be marked as five points for a hit and 0 for a miss by the rangers. So bring your favorite muzzle-loader and enjoy a day that takes us back in time. If you have correct apparel, please feel free to wear your buckskins, colonial clothing or such.
If we get two or more juniors 17 and under signed up, they will have their own division separate from adults. Keep in mind, this is a shoot for sidelocks only (hence the name)! This means Flintlock or Percussion, Open Iron Sights, Round Ball ONLY. No peep sights or scopes and no inlines. You do not have to be a member to shoot, but becoming one, would be greatly appreciated! Spectators welcome!
